Work Experience
Wondered what it’s like to work in a museum?
If you’re aged 14 – 18 and interested in finding out more about a museum career, the Whipple Museum hosts two placements a year. The placements last one week but can also be combined with a week placement in the Whipple Library, giving you the opportunity to experience different types of special collections.
We host up to two placements per year within these periods:
29th April – 10th May
17th – 28th June
8th – 19th July
To apply, please download our Expression of Interest form and return it to hps-whipple-museum@lists.cam.ac.uk or send by post to the Learning Coordinator, Whipple Museum of the History of Science, Free School Lane, Cambridge, CB2 3RH.
Priority will be given to state schools and schools within target areas. The deadline for the April-May dates is the 12th January. For the remaining dates, the deadline for applications is the end of February half term.
Interested in experiences in different museums? The University of Cambridge Museums also offer work experience taster days and placements across the year. Find out more about how to apply here: https://www.museums.cam.ac.uk/Opportunities
